Wine tasting in Ticino

Wine tasting – Everything about the grape

Would you like to actively participate in the grape harvest yourself? From the end of August to October, visitors to the Mendrisiotto region can spend a whole day accompanying the winemakers in their work. You will learn interesting facts about the phases of wine making – from the vine to the glass. In between there will be refreshments for all participants. You will also get to know the sociability and hospitality of the Ticino people during a rural lunch in a cheerful and relaxed atmosphere.

Wine-making in Ticino has a long history. In particular, the Merlot grape, originally from Bordeaux, is now one of the most famous grape varieties in Ticino. About 80% of the Ticino vines carry the Merlot grapes. This results in fruity white wines and aromatic red wines, which are guaranteed to be found in every grotto or restaurant. And certainly not at a wine tasting.

Would you like to go deeper into the matter of wine? Then we recommend a walk in the Mendrisiotto. Here there are three themed paths among the vines. There are 30 panels with themes related to the local wine growing. However, you should bring enough time with you. Because each of the paths has an average duration of 4 hours. Enjoy in peace and quiet the beauty of the wine trails and the well-deserved wine tasting afterwards.
